Since we started over 20 years ago, we’ve worked hard to bring tasty, organic products to tables across the nation. Our company was founded on the belief that organic makes a difference for families, farming communities and the environment. And we bet the more you learn about our organic commitment, the better you’ll feel about choosing Horizon for your family.

We're parents too, so we know how much you care about feeding your family. That’s why we’re committed to organic standards and ingredients. You’ll find organic cheese and pasta in our mac & cheese, organic wheat in our snack crackers and, of course, plenty of certified organic dairy products to keep your kitchen stocked and your family satisfied.

We’re proud to be part of the National Organic Program (NOP), which prohibits the use of GMOs. We’re also proud to be pioneers in the organic industry. That means every choice we make—from what we feed our cows to which ingredients we use in our products—is carefully considered and consistent with NOP guidelines.

While we’ve grown over the years, our roots are in organic dairy. We always want to do what’s right for your family and the planet, and that starts with how we raise our cows. Our farmers keep cows healthy the organic way with attentive daily care, fresh air and a wholesome organic diet. And we believe organic dairy cattle should enjoy the great outdoors, so they get plenty of time to exercise, socialize and interact with the land.

Good things take time. We believe that cows should produce milk according to their natural cycles, so we never treat ours with growth hormones.* And while sustainable farming practices take a great deal of time and effort, we know that they protect and enhance our natural resources—that’s good news for our animals, our communities and the planet.

*No significant difference has been shown between milk from rBST-treated and non-rBST-treated cows.

We treat our cows like members of the family, and that means giving them a whole lot of love and attention. Organic animal care is holistic, preventative and natural. We do our best to minimize health issues by giving our cows a clean environment, organic diets and lots of grazing time.If a cow does get sick and need treatment, our farmers take the time to use natural and alternative methods instead of antibiotics.

As a leader in sustainability, we’re always thinking about the future and how we can bring organic products to more families. So we created the HOPE (Horizon Organic Producer Education) program to educate and support farmers transitioning to organic. We also celebrate excellence and invest in new generations of organic farmers. Our HOPE Award recognizes one outstanding family farm each year, and our HOPE Scholarships aide students pursuing careers in organic farming.
