Deeded in 1868, this farm has been in the family for five generations. "We went organic and never looked back," says Jen, who moved back to Vermont to farm with her father Louis and keep the dairy in the family.
Adam knew he wanted to get away from spraying synthetic pesticides on his land, and the Goelz Family Organic Farm was certified in 2009. He and his wife Sarah run the farm together, where they are raising six children.
The Ruegemers stopped using synthetic pesticides and fertilizers on their farm in 1998, and decided to transition to organic practices in 2003 because they felt it was a more holistic way to take care of their animals and land.
