Design and Development of the CIM 3 April 2, 2004

Over the past fifteen years, Science Horizons has been the leader in the development of commercial off-the-shelf data acquisition systems for seismic, hydroacoustic, and infrasound event detection, particularly in support of nuclear-test-ban treaty monitoring. The CIM has been central to our array architecture.

Building on the success of the CIM II, the next generation is more capable and flexible.

The new generation CIM now:

  • Improves the size, power demands, and reliability of the CIM II
  • Provides multipoint and multidrop array control over standard radio modems
  • Provides a more flexible TCP/IP connection that can be routed over longer distances to Science Horizons' other data processing workstations
  • Provides a flexible network appliance using high-integration components and the power of the Linux Operating System

The compact, multipurpose CIM 3, featuring standard protocols, interfaces, and operating system, is the only COTS product that both satisfies current treaty-monitoring requirements and provides a standard software development platform that will be able to easily satisfy future requirements.
